*Mr Babatunde Edu*, General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), on Wednesday [Oct. 24] in Lagos, denied media report that vehicles belonging to *Chief Olusegun Obasanjo*, was impounded by the agency. *Edu* told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that there was no vehicle belonging to the former president’s Farm in its custody*. “We have no vehicle belonging to Obasanjo Farms in our custody. I have investigate; but if anyone has the claim, the registration should be forwarded“*, *Edu* said.
He urged motorists in Lagos to drive with care during the Eld-El-Kabir festival, noting that LASTMA officers would be at various flash points to control traffic.
“Whether
there is envisaged traffic gridlock or not, LASTMA officers will always be on ground
as we are on special duty“, he said
Also
in a separate interview, Mr Babatunde
Disu, Managing Director, LAGBUS Asset Management, operators of BRT buses,
confirmed that no bus belonging to the company was seized by Obasanjo Farms in
retaliation.
“I have
investigated from our franchise operators if such thing ever happened but none
of them confirmed it”.
Both
P.M.News and Thisday reported today that 10 LAGBUS buses belonging to the Lagos
State Government were impounded in Ota, Ogun State.
The
media further reported that Obasanjo Farms’ vehicles were seized by officials
of LASTMA for contravening traffic law.
The
reports also said that after Obasanjo’s efforts failed to get the vehicle
released, his company allegedly instigated miscreants to forcefully seize over
10 LAGBUS vehicles that crossed the Lagos-Ogun boundary in Ota.
